Major madness over Majolica Majorca!

A few weeks ago, I received the loveliest packages from the latest makeup brand to hit our shores: Majolica Majorca.

They are so adorable! I haven't used them yet but my fellow magazine editors are in love with the makeup, especially the pressed powder encased in the golden compact.

I just love the packaging. It's so kawaii! Yes, Majolica Majorca is the baby of Japanese beauty brand Shiseido. Only the Japanese can come up with packaging that makes any girl want to grab the product--without knowing what the product is! In fact, when I saw the charming tins of blushes, I thought they were sweets!

It's only fitting then that Majolica Majorca gave media a product sneak peek at the candy-colored dessert boutique Bizu.
With Myrza Sison. I went to Bizu straight from the gym!

Look at Nikki's tiny waist!

In honor of the yummy makeup, we were all asked to decorate cookies and here's what I did:
The loves of my life! Served with sprinkles and macaroon blushes!

Majolica Majorca is available at all SM Department Stores and Watsons nationwide.

Your first makeup kit: What should be in it

Mav Duran sent me this question:
I'm thinking of buying my first makeup set. What would you recommend I should buy first? I mean what are the essentials that I should be getting?

When choosing products for your first makeup kit (and forever afterwards!), there are just three things you need to know:

Set the base.
Concealer hides a multitude of skin sins, foundation creates a smooth canvas to paint on and powder sets your foundation so that it won't melt and move around your face.

However, if you've been very good to your skin, you won't need to exhaust yourself on this first step. So the real first step is take care of your skin! Eat healthy, sleep well, have a good skincare regimen. If your skin is clear and glowing, you won't need to cover up your gorgeousness!

Add color.
Once you've set the base, the face can look flat and pale. Here's where color comes in. Color is really just needed on cheeks (for a pretty glow) and lips (for extra juiciness!). But since eyes are the oft-called windows to the soul, prettifying your peepers is a great idea.

Accentuate.
This is simply adding structure to your face. Eyebrows must be defined, lashes curled and plumped, eyes lined  to make them pop. You can also use bronzer to contour cheekbones. These products are the dark products--blacks and browns--and are designed to ground your look.

So what do you need in your first makeup kit? Here's a basic list:
Base: concealer, foundation, powder
Color: eye shadow, blush, lipstick
Accents: eyebrow powder, mascara, eye liner

Yes, just nine products. That's the foundation of your makeup arsenal. Then once you become more confident, you can add these fun things: primer, correctors, highlighter, bronzer, lip gloss, fake lashes, and tons of various lip colors.

Here's what's in my makeup kit:
Base: La Mer concealer, La Mer foundation, La Mer powder, Lancome pressed powder, La Mer lip balm

Color: NARS blush in Orgasm, shu uemura eye shadow palette, Bobbi Brown eye and lip palette, lipsticks from Avon, Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Revlon, L'Oreal

Accents: ModelCo eyebrow kit, Lancome mascara, Stila eyeliner, Bobbi Brown bronzer

Hope that helped, Mav!

Tod's D Bag is the ultimate royal bag

I talk a lot about bags. If you read my personal blog, it used to be about shoes. But since becoming a mommy, I seem to have become obsessed with bags. And I will keep writing about bags here from now on. But there is one bag I really, really, really, really, really want. It's the Tod's D Bag.

The Tod's D Bag was named for Diana, Princess of Wales, in 1997. That's the year she died. I remember that it was a Sunday when she died, and I watched her funeral from my bed. Yes, I was so upset I got sick.

Since then, I'd been wanting things associated with her. I bought myself a sapphire ring in 2009 and when I found out last year that Tod's re-issued the D Bag, I've been saving up for it. I plan for it to be my 35th birthday gift to myself!

Kate Middleton, or rather, Catherine, the new Duchess of Cambridge, has the same idea except that she's already lucky enough to have both the ring and the bag!

Diana, Catherine, D Bag. Obviously, it's the bag royalty favors! But Hollywood's A-listers have also fallen in love with it. Look at these beauties toted by the stars:
Leighton Meester
Nicole Kidman
Jennifer Garner
Jessica Alba
Diane Kruger
It's also the bag that stylish beautiful people love. I like to think that's me! I just saw the new S/S '11 campaign.

Set in Rome and starring gorgeous young things, the photo captures a moment that I want for myself and Vince and Vito--a carefree day spent eating good food and laughing under the warm sun. And of course, we'll be well dressed like the Italians. The Italians are always perfectly groomed. Understated elegance, easy style. They never look like they try too hard. They look like they lounge in bed looking perfect all the time!

P.S. I'm also green with envy when I found out that The Bag Hag got her very own personalized Tod's D Bag, a gift from Tod's! Tod's, I want to go to your events, too! You don't have to give me a bag since I'm already saving up for one. Really!

Tod's is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. and are available at Greenbelt 4 and Shangri-la Plaza.

I want this Michael Kors bag!

I'm a Project Runway fan. So I'm a Michael Kors fan. Ya, it follows!

So I am absolutely loving his latest bag. Three reasons: (1) It's a Michael Kors bag, (2) he designed it especially for his mother, Joan, and (3) it's really is such a great bag for mommies!

The Joan Bag is a roomy top-handle bowler carryall that comes in three versions: full-grain nappa leather, crocodile-embossed nappa and patent leather. The shape is classic, there are pockets and a shoulder strap for easy carrying.

It's really a bag made for mommies, who need bags that work just as hard as we do and looks just as great as we do! Michael said of his new bag, "My mother travels constantly and loves the idea of a bag that's both utilitarian and luxurious, so I created the Joan Bag for her. There is no better way to celebrate the woman who has been there since the beginning so this bag is a tribute to all mothers."

The Joan Bag. So perfect!
Joan replied, "I am honored to have this new bag dedicated to me. I think it's symbolic of the love that sons have for their mothers the world over."

Oh! I can't wait to see what my son, Vito, will make for me when he grows up! And whether it's a watercolor flower or a nappa leather bag (I can dream!), I'd love it!

The Joan Handbag is available at Michael Kors boutiques in Greenbelt 5, Rustan's Makati, Power Plant Mall, Shangri-la Plaza and Newport Mall.
